The weather outside was too good to pass up so I decided to do my web surfing and blogging on the patio today. I just need to remind myself to buy some citronella candles to keep the bugs away.

Hurricane Ike
Sunday, September 07, 2008

The one thing I hate about hurricanes is the waiting and guessing of where the storm will hit.

As I type this, Hurricane Ike is aiming for the Gulf of Mexico and at least one hurricane projection has Pensacola as part of the affected area.

Finally...the Weekend
Friday, August 29, 2008

After spending most of the week preparing for Hurricane Gustave at work, I am thankful that it's the weekend. The storm isn't due to hit until next week, so the weather for this weekend is supposed to be pretty nice. I guess it's just the calm before the storm.

I'm supposed to spend part of tomorrow removing a computer virus from one of my friend's parent's computer. Hopefully, the exocism won't take all day long. I want to try to spend some time at the beach and try to wind down.

My boss told me that he might call me into the office during the weekend if the storm turns towards Pensacola. I might be spending my weekend securing computers. I'm crossing my fingers that this doesn't happen.

Tropical Storm Fay
Saturday, August 23, 2008

I was expecting more from Tropical Storm Fay. So far, we have had only drizzling rain and light gusts of wind. I guess I should be thankful that it's not a full-blown hurricane.

I Hate Rain
Sunday, July 13, 2008

This weekend blows. The rain has ruined my plans to see the Blue Angels air show yesterday and now it has struck down my small backyard barbecue. To make things even worse, the pizza delivery guy just called me and said that he will be a little bit late because of the weather. Damn it! This monkey is hungry. I guess I'll just chew on some celery sticks for now.

Several area news agencies report that some people waiting for the show on the beach were struck by lightening. As a result, the organizers of the air show decided to cancel the event for the day.

As of this posting, the Blue Angels Air Show was to be rescheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, July 13.

Rain
Sunday, June 22, 2008

In the last few weeks, it has rained in Pensacola during the middle of the day. It typically starts as early as 11 am and usually lasts until about 2 pm. Except for a few days, the rain's arrival has been pretty consistent but it's intensity has not. Often, we are treated with a simple shower that cools us down from the sweltering heat, but other times like today, we are dealt with the kind that carries lightening and thunder.

When I was a kid, my uncles and aunts would tell me that the lightening and thunder was God being angry at the world, and that the rain were the tears of the angels as they cried for humanity. Despite now learning the truth about such weather phenomenons, I sometimes like to think that my uncles and aunts were telling the truth. Right now, I'd like to think that God is angry at the price of gasoline.
